the legion of doom is not only our home, but also the only consistent all ages space for diy punk shows in columbus. to us, punk is more than fast bands, the way you dress, or the way you style your hair. punk is about community -- creating a space of sanity in a world gone mad with greed and apathy. we open our home to you in the true spirit of community and the do-it-yourself ethic. we ask that you respect our home and its rules, and we'll respect you. our only requests while you are in our house is that you refrain from any homophobic, sexist, racist, or classist behaviour. these sorts of actions exclude people and we want our space to be open to everyone. in addition, we ask that you not bring alcohol or drugs into our shows -- they are a cop magnet! we've been doing shows here for 3 years, and have yet to have one shut down. other things you all should know: all shows are all ages, cost $3 - $5, and start around 8pm. we are open to all styles of bands except for those who view the punk scene as a stepping stone to mtv and becoming a rock star. if that's your goal, then don't ask us to waste our time on you. we are pro-gay, pro-wimmin, anti-racist, anti-classist, pro-animal...and we are the fuck'n punx! - this was written probably over five years ago and i think it is just as important here today. the legion of doom is located at 1579 indianola ave between 11th and chittenden in south campus, columbus ohio. bands looking for shows are required to submit a cd/cdr, tape, whatever along with a copy of lyrics for consideration. we do not book shows via websites or mp3s, so please send all materials to the address listed. thank you.
I've played here a few times in two different bands over the span of about 9 or 10 years, and it's always nice to come back to such a familiar, welcoming environment. Each visit was met with some of the most delicious vegan food I've ever had and Jimmy was more than willing to share his recipes!! Legion is a "straight-edge" house so be ready to take a night off from drinking and partying, for me it was a welcome break. Spending the night always concluded with a pancake breakfast in the AM before shipping off to our next stop. I really like the Legion and how organized and enthusiastic the Columbus kids are. As long as I'm touring, Legion will always be a stop! Cute kittys too, Hi Mister Meowgi!
