Book Your Own Fuckin' Life

An Idea Like No Other (promoter) [edit] [flag] Last Updated: 2008-12-07

I book DIY punk shows in New Orleans. No contracts. No guarantees. No assholes. Get in touch if you need a show. If I can't help you out, I can probably find someone who will. Lodging: maybe. Food: maybe.

I tried to book a show through these guys a few months ago. They told us we would play a 200+ capacity venue and that we would be fed. When we showed up at the address he'd given us, it turned out to be some homeless shelter where our band was assaulted by several vagrants and at one point we had to exchange sexual favors for our freedom. On the way out of town, I received a cell phone call from the same booker. He was laughing and breathing heavy and asked if we "had a good show". A few minutes later we noticed the guy on the phone was in another car that was driving behind our van. A high speed chase ensued which led us to Texas. By this time the police became involved in the chase and the booker/driver had clearly taken of all of his clothes and began shooting at us, the police, and many pedestrians. We were all terrified for our lives. You may have heard about this on the news. What happened next is beyond belief... Just past the TX/LA border, the car that had been chasing us suddenly swerved off the road into a Dairy Queen parking lot. The booker and 3-4 other guys jumped out of the car and engaged in a shoot-out with police. Most of them were using their fingers as pistols and made pretend gun sounds. The police didn't want to take any chances, so they fired off a few rounds of tear-gas. As the Police came up on them, the booker shouted "Invisibility Cloak!", and they all began pretending they were invisible, except for the booker who began masturbating. Needless to say, we never got fed and lord knows none of us saw any money. Perhaps, others reading this should book with someone else.

If you need a show in new orleans this is your best place to get it or direction to where you can get a show. He is not a primadona. he is a VERY busy person.

This guys was a real primadona on the phone. He acted as if he was the only person who books shows, and as if I was beneath him.
